Development Lab

Where ideas are tested before they’re promised.

The lab is our working space for prototypes, experiments and the technology underneath our products. Nothing here is a release — it’s how releases get made.

Process

Prototype. Test. Document. Release.

  1. Prototype

Smallest working version first — a vertical slice that proves the idea end to end.

  2. Simulate

Logic is exercised locally with automated checks before it ever reaches a world.

  3. Test in-world

Builds are run inside Second Life with step-by-step checklists and recorded evidence.

  4. Document

Every fix, decision and open issue is logged, with a rollback path for anything that changes.

Current experiments

What’s on the bench.

Needs & care simulation
A shared model of everyday needs — how they change over time, how they survive logouts and how they stay fair to every player. Prototype
Object-to-HUD handshakes
Authenticated messaging so in-world objects and HUDs can trust each other, with consent settings that default to off. Prototype
Interactive furniture
Seats and beds that start, track and summarize activity sessions with a player’s HUD. In testing

BHI Developer Prep™

A free, project-driven roadmap for beginners moving from zero programming experience toward computer science, cloud development and AI application engineering.

  1. Python foundations

Learn to read, reason about and write code.

  2. Computer science

Algorithms, data structures, memory, SQL and the web.

  3. Backend development

APIs, databases, authentication and cloud services.

  4. Artificial intelligence

Search, knowledge, machine learning and intelligent behavior.

  5. Generative AI engineering

LLMs, retrieval, memory, tools, evaluation and model routing.
